Kite Festival Austin | April 2, 2023: ABC Kite Fest
The 95rd annual ABC Kite Festival will be held in Austin’s own Zilker Park from 10 AM to 5 PM. This colorful event attracts kite enthusiasts from all over the country. The one-day festival features kite-flying demonstrations, friendly competitions, and workshops. Attendees can also purchase kites and other flying toys from local vendors. There is also a wide variety of food and drinks, as well as live music and entertainment. The festival is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, spend time with family and meet new friends.
2023 Austin Zilker Kite Festival Transportation Tips
There are many ways to get to the festival but most important read these tips below:
- Surround neighborhoods have No Parking restrictions in full effect and will be patrolled. Violators will be ticketed and possibly towed.
- You can ride the CapMetro for free to Zilker Park for Kite Fest and so are the city’s hike and bike trails.
- Onsite parking is available for the event through Pavemint, ABC Kite Fest’s official parking partner. Kite festival goers are encouraged to reserve parking spots in advance.
Important Traffic Notes
Barton Springs Road will be closed from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm during the entire Kite Festival.
Northbound visitors coming to Kite-Fest
From the Loop 360 exit, continue on the frontage road. Get into the far left lane and turn into the park.
Southbound visitors coming to Kite-Fest
Use the Loop 360 exit, and continue on the northbound frontage road. Get into the far left lane and turn into the park.
Whatever you do, DO NOT EXIT Barton Skyway or Rollingwood/2244. There will be significant delays and closures at those exits so don’t expect to go anywhere fast.
